Get KeisenVPA running in under 10 minutes

Requirements

KeisenVPA is a standalone desktop application. No Python or developer tools required.

KeisenVPA includes everything you need. Just download, install, and start transcribing. The 14-day trial works immediately with no API key or account creation.

Installation

macOS

Download the DMG

Download the appropriate version for your Mac:

Install the app

Open the DMG file and drag KeisenVPA to your Applications folder.

Launch KeisenVPA

Open KeisenVPA from your Applications folder or Spotlight. On first launch, you may need to right-click and select "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper.

Windows

Download the installer

Download KeisenVPA for Windows.

Run the installer

Double-click the installer and follow the prompts. If Windows Defender shows a warning, click "More info" then "Run anyway".

Launch KeisenVPA

Find KeisenVPA in your Start menu or desktop shortcut.

API Setup

KeisenVPA uses Claude for AI-powered document generation.

Trial Mode (No API Key Required)

The 14-day free trial includes everything you need to get started:

  • Built-in API access — No need to create an Anthropic account or get your own API key
  • Full feature access — All transcription and document generation features
  • Usage limit — 500,000 tokens (~200+ clinical notes) over 14 days

Trial users can skip the API setup entirely. Simply download the app and start transcribing — the AI features work out of the box.

Licensed Users

After purchasing a license, KeisenVPA provides unlimited access via our HIPAA-compliant API. No additional configuration is required — your license key unlocks full access automatically.

Advanced: Using Your Own API Key (Optional)

If you prefer to use your own Anthropic API key (for custom rate limits or separate billing), you can configure it in Settings:

  1. Visit console.anthropic.com
  2. Create an account or sign in
  3. Navigate to API Keys and generate a new key
  4. In KeisenVPA, go to Settings → API Key and enter your key

Keep your API key secure
Never share your API key publicly. KeisenVPA stores the key securely in your system keychain and never logs it.

Your First Transcription

When you launch KeisenVPA, you'll see the main window with three input options:

Choose your input method

KeisenVPA supports multiple ways to capture information:

  • Voice recording — Click the microphone button to record and transcribe audio
  • Screenshot — Capture your screen to extract text from images
  • Text input — Paste or type text directly

Record or input your content

For voice input, click Record, speak naturally, then click Stop. The audio is transcribed locally using Whisper AI — your recordings never leave your device.

Generate a document

Click one of the quick-action buttons (H&P, SOAP Note, etc.) or type a custom prompt. Claude AI will transform your input into a structured document.

Copy and use

Click the copy button to grab the output and paste it into your EHR or document system.
